The California State Railroad Museum was completed in 1981 to display some of the city’s first locomotives. The museum features 21 restored locomotives and railroad cars with some dating back to 1862. The displayed carts come from the Central Pacific Railroad and the Southern Pacific Railroad, which were both founded in Sacramento.
