Churchill Downs Station opened in 1875 as a thoroughbred racetrack. It is home of the Kentucky Derby, the largest sporting event in the state. Churchill Downs cover 147 acres and sits more than 50,000 people. The site also contains the Kentucky Derby Museum, which depicts the race’s past.
