New Orleans

New Orleans, nicknamed ‘The Big Easy’, is the largest city in the state of Louisiana. New Orleans is referred to as ‘The most unique city in America’. It boasts a rich multi-cultural heritage, giving it a diverse flavor of cuisine, music and architecture.

New Orleans is one of the most visited cities in the U.S. The world famous Bourbon Street attracts many visitors. It is located in the French Quarter and houses an array of entertainment attractions.

New Orleans is considered the birthplace of jazz music. The city’s unique music originated in public squares, like Congo Square now located in the Louis Armstrong Park. The city is also famous for its cuisine. The combination of local Creole and French flairs developed a distinctive taste known as Louisiana Creole. New Orleans’ rich ethnic history is also seen through the city’s architecture, most prominent in the Garden District.

New Orleans experienced devastating effects from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The storm flooded the area and left many residents without a home. Many were sheltered at the Louisiana Superdome. The city is in the process of rebuilding.
