San Antonio

San Antonio is the second largest city in Texas and the seventh largest in the U.S., housing about 1.2 million residents. The city was named after Saint Anthony of Pudua, whose feast day was celebrated the day the Spanish expedition ceased in 1691. Visitors can experience a glimpse of past war history at the Alamo. The small structure was a mission and fortress compound, which now houses a memorial and museum.

The Alamo is the most popular of a chain of missions located in San Antonio. The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park now preserves the missions in their natural landscape.

San Antonio is a popular tourist destination. The River Walk, or Paseo Del Rio, is the most popular attraction. The river winds for a few miles, offering a relaxing retreat. It lays one story beneath street level and boasts some of the best Tex-Mex food and entertainment. It links many attractions, including the HemisFair Park, which holds the Tower of Americas. The city also home to Sea World San Antonio, the world's largest marine-life theme park.
